Frequently asked questions.

Who can attend a Spinal Flow® session?

Anyone with a nervous system! I see all ages from babies through to the elderly.

I have specialised pillows to support women throughout all stages of their pregnancy.

I do home visits to assist canines who may require some additional support.

Will I be required to remove my clothing?

No, clothing is removed. The assessment and Spinal Flow® session is done fully clothed.

Shoes, belts, hats and heavy jackets are removed for the session.

In summer months, if your back is exposed or short clothing is worn, a scarf may be placed over your skin at my discretion.

What is the best clothing to wear?

Clothing that you feel comfortable in; preferably no multiple layers and clothing with thick seams (such as jeans). Baggy clothing prevents a good visual of the body’s posture- so please be mindful of this, especially for initial consultation and re-exams.

Can I wear my hair down?

It is preferable to have long hair pulled back and tied up to allow for a clear visual of the ears and neck.

What parts of my body will be touched?

To complete the postural and gateway assessments, your neck, back, and along your spine will be felt and touched. Your ear, shoulder and hip position will also be noted. Throughout the Spinal Flow session, you will feel a nurturing touch on the area near the base of the spine and areas on your head. Using the body’s lead, your flow will be increased through additional touch to the back of your legs and bottom of your feet.

What do I do and what do you do during each session?

Your job is to tune into your body and connect to the sensations… What do you feel? Why do you feel? How does it feel? … also tune into any thoughts and feelings…. What do you feel? Why do you feel? How do you feel? Notice the ease with connection and how the body responds. Throughout the session, the nervous system releases stored physical/ chemical/emotional stress within the body. This creates more ease and flow within the body, which I track each session. I will communicate the changes that I feel and see. I don’t let anyone get off my table without some change felt or seen on my end.

Can I feel the flow?

How this flow is felt in the body can include an awareness of greater breath and expansion in the body, a knowing through connecting to an emotion, clarity in thinking or sensations felt in the body. After the session you may feel great, terrible or no difference at all- all these responses are normal and expected!

How long am I on the table for during each session?

Between 20min- 30min for adults and less for children (10-20min), as their body tends to respond more quickly than adults.

How many sessions will I need and how often?

Restoring health takes time and consistency is key for impactful changes to occur. Quite often, people come to me after years, usually decades worth of stress. Weekly sessions are ideal for maintenance and for continuing to grow ease in the body to release stored layers of stress. Multiple sessions a week help the body shift through stored layers of stress quicker and are recommended when the body’s nervous system is overloaded and the progress I feel and see is slow.

Post session and in-between session care?

Post session care and in-between care is essential. As physical/chemical/ emotional layers have been released and processing in the body has taken place, please spend a moment to help your body reintegrate. After a session, drinking water, taking a few mindful deep breaths, a mindful walk, doing some journalling, and sitting with your thoughts and spending some time feeling the emotions that come up, are all ways to help support your mind and body. In-between sessions consider what is happening in your life that may be causing additional physical/ chemical/ emotional stress to your mind and body. Equally important- what are you including as part of your daily routines to support more flow in your life- more movement, less toxins, more peace.
